            • Little Miracles of Katrina

Little Miracles of Katrina is M.V. Despenza’s personal account of extraordinary moments experienced during and after Hurricane Katrina. Through a collection of true stories, Despenza reflects on unexpected acts of kindness, remarkable encounters, and moments of hope that emerged amid the devastation and uncertainty surrounding the storm.

The book explores resilience, human connection, faith, and what Despenza describes as the “little miracles” that appeared when they were needed most. Rather than focusing only on Katrina’s destruction, Little Miracles of Katrina offers a deeply personal perspective on finding hope and meaning in the aftermath of one of the Gulf Coast’s most devastating disasters.

            • Miracle of the Meow

Miracle of the Meow: The Return of Black Cat is a children’s story created from an actual event chronicled in Little Miracles of Katrina, allowing Ms. Despenza to share one of her little miracles with young readers. After promising to return for Black Cat, Miss Vee is separated from her when severe flooding strikes. Despite closed roads and widespread storm damage, she is determined to keep her promise and find the cat waiting for her. Through a gentle story of trust, perseverance, compassion, and the bond between people and animals, Miracle of the Meow shows children how keeping a promise and a small act of kindness can change a life.

            • From Storm to Scout

From Storm to Scout: A Little Dog’s Big Journey Home is a children’s book inspired by the true story of a frightened little dog found stranded after Hurricane Ida. After seeing a neighborhood post about him, Miss Vee sets out through the storm-damaged community and brings him to safety, naming him Storm. What follows is a journey to find the little dog the permanent family he deserves, ultimately giving him both a forever home and a new name: Scout. The story explores compassion, rescue, responsibility, perseverance, and the difference a second chance can make in the life of an animal in need.
